A Web Based Remote for the i-Cybie

When I was young there was one robot that I always wanted, that was a Sony Aibo, unfortunately the closest I ever got was playing with an ERS-7 at an after school club. I still don’t have a Sony Aibo and even though I keep looking at the ERS-1000 I would have to do some amazing mental gymnastics to be able to justify getting one. Soon after the Aibo was released Silverlit developed the i-Cybie, a cheaper and less sophisticated robot dog. »

Doom Fire on the RS90

The RS90 or Retromini is a little Gameboy-esque clone that’s been out for a little while, it contains an older Ingenic JZ24725B processor with 32Mb RAM. It’s fairly cheap, I purchased mine from https://retrosix.co.uk/ for £24.99. Out of the box it can play Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance games with it running an OS that’s pretty similar to the old Dingoo A320. Recently pcercuei alongside mth and zear have done some fantastic work and got OpenDingux running on the device. »

Cleaning a Chumby with Peroxide

I never really get rid of many of my tech gadgets, which is why I still have my old iBook in a draw somewhere, a Pokemon Mini in a box in the loft as well as a couple of Cybikos hanging around. This of course means I’ve still got my Chumby One that following tradition has been stuck in a drawer since I moved to Newcastle about 3 years ago. »

Refreshing the Blog and Moving Some Old Cotent

I’ve recently moved the blog from using a really old version of Jekyll to Hugo. I wass really just looking for something a bit more lightweight and my old blog was failing to build on a new version of Jekyll anyway. You may also notice that I’ve imported a lot of old content from a wordpress blog that I used to have before this one. I’ve took a bit of time to fix some old links to code examples and such that were broken. »

Using docker to cross-compile for the RS97

I’ve recently picked up an RS-97 handheld, it’s a neat little device that uses the old Revo K101 clone GBA shell. In the box it comes preinstalled with some emulators (and an absolute tonne of roms, being from China where copyright doesn’t seem to matter). Dingux was ported to the device and I’ve been using the UselessRS97 firmware. Although gameblabla, the developer, has recently stopped updating the firmware due to differences in hardware revisions - I’ve found it to be an excellent piece of software. »
